Established in 1973, Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council (BARC) is one of the noted organizations of Bangladesh Government under the Ministry of Agriculture. BARC is also the apex body of the National Agricultural Research System (NARS). The key responsibility of Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council is to consolidate the country’s agricultural research capacity through planning and integration of huge resources. BARC has been doing these by planning, evaluating, coordination, conducting, monitoring, and reviewing agricultural research program and human resource development of the NARS in the country. It is the conclusive place where the whole country’s agricultural research effort is coordinated.
One of the key goals of BARC is to make strength and consolidate the national agricultural research system. The Governing Body is the highest authority of the Council. It regulates, directs and supervises the whole matters belonging to research, planning, coordination and administrative policy to formulate the Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council (BARC). The Governing Body (GB) consists of three ministries of Bangladesh Government including, Honorable Minister for Agriculture as Chairman, Honorable Minister for Fisheries and Livestock as Co-Chairman, and Honorable Minister for Environment and Forest as Co-Chairman.
