Established in 1961, Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation is one of the Government agencies under the Ministry of Agriculture. During the time to its incorporation, the Corporation's name was East Pakistan Agricultural Development Corporation. But after the independence of Bangladesh in 1971, the name changed to Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation or BADC. In 1975, BADC changed to Bangladesh Agricultural Inputs Supply and Services (BAISSC), again in 1976 BAISSC was altered its name as BADC.
The main functions of BADC are to prepare appropriate arrangements throughout Bangladesh for the production, procurement, transport, storage and distribution of necessary agricultural inputs. In addition, BADC has been supplying irrigation facilities by utilizing of surface and underground water to the farmers. For its outstanding performance and success, BADC achieved Gold Medal of Bangabandhu National Agriculture Award-1417.
