Bangladesh Institute of Social Research (BISR) was established in 2003 as a research-based non-profit and non-partisan organization. It is a think-tank working for social progress through research studies/activities.
Till now, BISR has completed many vital research works on diversified issues such as socio-economic issues, nature and environment issues, livelihood, human-right, agricultural, governance, marginal and exclusive group issues, public health, institutional development, and different fundamental and critical development issues of Bangladesh. Its research works have been published in many reputed international journals. Besides, Bangladesh Institute of Social Research (BISR) organizes seminar, workshop and dialogue on different development issues.
BISR also works as a hub of the Research Associates and Fellows, Sociologists, Analysts, and Administrative Assistants. The organization is governed by a Board of Trustees. It works following an Annual Research Plan (ARP) every calendar year. Dr. M. Khurshed Alam is the present Chairman of Bangladesh Institute of Social Research (BISR).
