Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) is the country's prime telecommunication authority established under the Bangladesh Telecommunication Act, 2001 (Act no 18 of 2001). BTRC started its journey on January 31, 2002, and runs under the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications (MoPT) of Bangladesh Government.
The Commission is highly responsible for providing telecommunication services in the Country. BTRC has to carry out a number of duties such as establishing, acting, regulating and maintaining telecommunication establishments across the Country. It also has the responsibility to fixing various charges on the subscribers and ensure services for the users. All the Mobile Operators, Internet Service Providers, Call Centers, Broadband Wireless Access Providers, Network Service Operators, VSAT Users, PSTN Operators, Prepaid Card Service Providers etc are accountable to BTRC. The vision of BTRC is to "Facilitate Connecting the unconnected through quality Telecommunication services at an affordable price by introducing new technologies."
