Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training (BMET) is an agency of Bangladesh Government working as an administrative body to recruit Bangladesh manpower to the foreign countries by providing them proper tanning, and support. BMET was established in 1976 by the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh chiefly to fulfill the country’s manpower requirement for the foreign employers and export them for overseas employment. Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training is working as an attached department of the Ministry of Manpower Development and Social Welfare.
BMET is also involved in planning and implementing various strategic programs for proper utilization of country’s manpower. It also regulates private Recruiting Agents who are recruiting Bangladeshi workers for foreign employers.
It has two wings - Employment Services Wing, and Training Wing. Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training (BMET) also has 42 District Employment & Manpower Offices, 38 Technical Training Centers, 1 Marine Technology Institute, and 3 Apprenticeship Training Offices. All these are running under the regulation of BMET. Thus, BMET is the highest administrative authority to regulate all kinds of manpower recruitment processes of Bangladesh.
