Bangladesh Livestock Research Institute (BLRI) is a research center located at Savar in Dhaka which was established in the year 1984 by a Presidential Ordinance amended in August 1996 by Act No. IX of "The Bangladesh Livestock Research Institute (Amendment) Act 1996".
BLRI seeks to identify and solve problems related to livestock and poultry; develops techniques and knowledge for the growth of livestock sector of the country; provides training to its persons; conducts research on relevant fields; finds out livestock and poultry problems through proper research; organizes workshops, seminars, discussions etc; works for poverty alleviation and employment opportunities; assists the government in policy decisions; and promotes its activities through linkages with various govt., non-govt. and international agencies. BLRI has two Regional Stations at Shahzadpur in Sirajgang; and at Naikhongchari in Bandarban.
Bangladesh Livestock Research Institute (BLRI) is administered by the Board of Management under the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, Government of Bangladesh. BLRIs is headed by a Chairman who is the Honarable Minister, Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock.

Goat and Sheep Production Research Division
Poultry Production Research Division
Socio-Economics Research Division
Farming System Research Division, and
Training Planning and Technology Transfer Division
